   AFC Teams Thrive in Gettysburg   

Congrats to the AFC teams that went to Gettysburg over the weekend of August 23-24 and had a super showing in both tournaments. Coaches and players...you represented the club well and should be proud of your efforts.

U13 Girls Heat - Finalist in Gettysburg Clash Div. 1
U10 Girls Panthers - Gettysburg Battlefield Blast 3rd Place 4-1-1
U14 Boys Xtreme - Gettysburg Battlefield Blast 3-3
U13 Boys Bulldogs - Gettysburg Battlefield Blast 3-3
U11 Boys Wolverines - Gettysburg Battlefield Blast 3-2-1

and all other AFC teams that traveled and competed in Gettysburg!

   Wildcats Place 2nd  

Congrats to the U10 Girls Wildcats for placing 2nd in the Bel Air Summer Classic.  This was the girls first tournament as an AFC team and they did great making it to the finals and losing 1-0 in the championship game.  Congrats to Pat Brown, Erik Brown and the girls for a great start to the Fall season!

   AFC Camp This Week  

AFC is hosting it's second annual program wide soccer camp at Ring Factory Elementary School.  Players from 9 different AFC teams are training together with their team and having a different, licensed coach each night.  There are also various guest coaches coming each night to work with the players. 

Guest coaches include:
Brian Tully (Varsity Boys Coach at C Milton Wright)
Matt Berg (Varsity Girls Coach at Harford Tech)
Bill Wardle (former Div 1 player & Varsity Boys Coach at Aberdeen)
Rob Bailey (NSCAA National Diploma, 40 years coaching experience youth to college)
Colin Mayo (former AFC player & All State Midfielder from BAHS)
Charlie Davie (former All State Goal Keeper & Div 1 player at the Naval Academy & Towson)
Colin Miller (All State Keeper at C Milton Wright & future Div 1 Player at Providence)

2nd AFC Soccer Camp Date Set!

July 28th to August 1st
~ evenings ~




AFC held it's first program wide camp in 2013 and look to bring it back this Summer with some new features.  Over 100 players participated in last years camp, where players trained with their teams over the week - receiving a different coach each night.  Sessions will be run by licensed AFC coaches as well as local guest & high school coaches.  Tiki Ice will return to provide after training treats! This will be an evening camp available only to AFC players - with more details coming.

Congratulations to the U10 Girls (Falcons), the U17 Girls (United) and the U14 Boys (Strikers) who finished as finalists in the first indoor session at Maryland Sports Arena.

       

 

 

Calling all 6-8 year-old Boys!!

AFC is looking for any U7 or U8 boys interested in a FREE 4 week training program and learning about travel soccer & AFC.  All 4 training sessions will be held at Emmorton Elementary School gymnasium and run from 3:00 to 4:00 (3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22).  We hope this will lead to creating a Fall U8 and U9 boys AFC travel soccer squad.

AFC U8-U10 Girls and U10-U12 Boys

AFC is offering a unique 4 week training program where current AFC +rostered players will get lots of individual touches on the ball as well as game experience in different small sided situations.  Former University of Delaware Division 1 soccer player and current C. Milton Wright coach, Brian Gunter, will be coordinating and running the training sessions. 

The first session (Feb. 22nd) will be held at Patterson Mill Middle School Gym, while the final 3 sessions will be held at Emmorton Elementary School gymnasium and run for 60 minutes each - within the time slot of 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (3/1, 3/8, 3/15).
