AFC Copa - U11 (2007) Girls (new fall 2017 team)

AFC 2007 Girls “Copa” will be a new U11 team for the upcoming 2017 Fall season. There will be some open training sessions available this Spring for any girls interested in learning more about the team and getting to know the coaches. Please email coach Steve Sherwood (s.m.sherwoodbandit@gmail.com) if interested.

AFC Copa Team Details: Some of the hardest decisions as a parent of a youth soccer player is "when do I make the move from Rec to Club", and "is my child ready to make the move from Rec to Club". Both excellent questions and 99% of parents go through this at some point so you're not along in this process. Club soccer has more dedicated players that travel to local and national tournaments to compete as higher levels of soccer. The coaching staff has typically played at a competitive high school or college soccer level and they have a wealth of knowledge to share with the younger players when it comes to player development.

2007 Girls AFC Copa: AFC COPA is a "brand new" girls team that is in the process of putting it's roster together right now for the 2017 Fall soccer season.

We are looking for girls that are coming from the rec programs that have "out grown" that level of play or are looking for something more competitive on a daily basis. If your daughter/athlete has a passion for the game that you don't see in other players on her Rec team, then that's a good sign she is ready to move up to the "club soccer circuit". If your daughter/athlete already has a year or more of club soccer experience and you are looking for a new team and place where your daughter can grow and learn with players in a competitive family atmosphere, then you're at the right place!

(layers must be born after Aug. 1, 2004.)

Head Coach: Steve Sherwood
Email: s.m.sherwoodbandit@gmail.com Bio: Steve played Striker, Left Forward, and Center Mid-Field for most of his career depending what team he was on.

As a youth, Steve played for G.H.S.C., Baltimore Stars, O.D.P. and Rox Soccer Club before making Varsity Soccer as a Freshman for Coach Snyder's C.Milton Wright Team that played in 2 State Championships before transferring to River Hill High School in Howard County.  Steve was also a Wiel Coever Method Award Winner through Loyola College.

Coaching experience includes head coach of 2004 CREW FC Girls. Coach Steve Sherwood has been working with "driven" youth players around Harford, Baltimore and Howard County for the last 2 years as part of his after school & summer volunteer training programs.

Assistant Coach: TBD

Team Information:
Coach Steve focuses his teaching/coaching on "One Touch" / "Tiki-Taka Style soccer", "Passing with a Purpose", and most importantly....Verbal Communication on the pitch. These (3) major aspects of the game are the foundation in which your youth athlete will thrive and build upon playing for Coach Steve and the AFC COPA. we will be putting together a club program that is a family atmosphere, and a place where your daughter can grow and learn with her teammates in a competitive but fun setting. We aim to be highly competitve in our age group while representing the AFC brand in doing so. In the Spring, we will be doing conditioning sessions with the ball and will focus on putting together a great group of girls and parents to represenet AFC COPA this Fall 2017 season.

There will be a Private Group Facebook Page for AFC COPA's Spring Activities and training sessions if you would like to email Coach Steve Sherwood and become a member of this after school training program or if you would like to stay up to date on all things AFC COPA soccer, please email me at s.m.sherwoodbandit@gmail.com

Please send me your daughter's: name, birthdate, short soccer bio or teams she has played for, and a list of the other sports teams she plays for and when.
Please send me parents contact info, name, cell phone & email - s.m.sherwoodbandit@gmail.com

** If your daughter would like to start training and getting ready for the Spring and Fall season now, please contact me. Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Congratulations AFC 2007 Copa
